Reusing buildings and materials reduces embodied carbon and waste, while promoting
environmental and human health. Deconstruction is the process of disassembling buildings to allow for the salvage of building materials for reuse. Building reuse, also referred to as adaptive reuse or renovation, describes a process wherein the structure, envelope, or other portions of an existing building are retained rather than the total demolition and construction of a new building on the same site.
