We are so excited to release the CLF Whole Building LCA Benchmark Study v2 dataset!

Our dataset encompasses detailed and harmonized building design characteristics, material quantities, and environmental impacts for 292 building projects across the United States and Canada. In total, the dataset represents nearly 5 million square meters of newly constructed floor area. To our knowledge, this dataset is the largest and most comprehensive currently available.

The dataset aims to enable designers, owners, researchers, and policymakers to analyze and compare the impacts of buildings, set performance targets, and motivate impact reductions. We hope this catalyzes future initiatives to broaden and improve LCA data collection to support sustainable design and construction research.

In the coming months, be on the lookout for new reports and journal articles from CLF and the UW Life Cycle Lab based on this dataset. We’re looking forward to publishing all the great work from our team!
