He created and continues to host the <strong><span style=\"color: #0075a9;\"><a style=\"color: #0075a9;\" href=\"https:\/\/community.clf.be.uw.edu\/g\/roundtable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NGO\/Government Roundtable on Embodied Carbon<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, explores and connects opportunities for collective action to reduce embodied carbon through design, procurement, materials innovation, and policy, and supports the development and utilization of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and decarbonization research. He is a member of the MEP 2040 Commitment steering committee (focused on decarbonizing building systems), and the Zero Net Carbon Collaboration (ZNCC) steering committee (accelerating ZNC for existing and historic buildings). In 2018, he was coordinator of <strong><span style=\"color: #0075a9;\"><a style=\"color: #0075a9;\" href=\"\/it\/carbon-smart-building-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Giornata della costruzione intelligente del carbonio<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, a conference affiliated with the Global Climate Action Summit focused on transforming the global building industry to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Himes was founding executive director for <span style=\"color: #0075a9;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0075a9;\" href=\"https:\/\/charterforcompassion.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charter for Compassion International<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the 2000s.
