Goldman Copeland has been deeply committed to sustainability in the built environment since its inception over 50 years ago. Committing to this program is an affirmation of the existing priorities of our firm and we are happy to contribute in any way we can.
Embodied carbon is less mentioned in conversations or policies nowadays compared to operational carbon. However, reducing embodied carbon will drive radical changes of manufacturing as well as the ways we design, select specifications,... As a green building consulting firm with 10 years of experience, with dozens of projects in the portfolio each year, GreenViet see our responsibilities in taking an active role in this roadmap.
Our organization wants to publicly commit to climate leadership. We know this is an urgent problem with global consequences, and that as an MEP design firm, we have a role to play in reducing carbon emissions from the built environment to levels which meet or exceed science-based targets. We also see great benefits for our firm in tracking the environmental impacts of our work: signing up for the Commitment gets us access to the forum’s quarterly updates and resources to figure out how to do this tracking cost effectively.
Hargis Engineers has already joined the AIA 2030 Commitment which targets reductions in operational energy and GHG emissions. Our next priority is to target embodied carbon and this commitment is the perfect mechanism to help us do that.
"As an Architecture & Engineering firm, sustainable design is inextricably interwoven within the firms core values; our commitment to positive impact extends to the health and well-being of inhabitants, surrounding communities, and the environment. We help our clients understand the whole life environmental impacts of their designs both at the architecture and MEP level to make the best decisions. MEP systems can have a huge impact on global warming both from an operational and embodied carbon perspective. Up to 50% of the embodied carbon impact of a new building comes from MEP systems and yet most life cycle analysts rely on estimates varying widely from reality. To address this problem Introba has committed to a five-year research plan to advance and share knowledge in embodied carbon in MEP design with the whole industry (e.g. through CIBSE publications). Joining the MEP2040 Challenge was a natural extension to the work we have already committed to, and we look forward to collaborating with other partners to accelerate the industry.
JB&B has a long history of leading progressive designs to reduce energy and operational carbon emissions. Our engineering team is fully committed to this philosophy, and therefore is also fully committed to the goals of MEP 2040.
To actively participate in climate movement starting with MEP Systems in Residential and Commercial buildings and to make a positive contribution in an Econonmic, Social and Corporate Governance. Our firm believes that higher sustainability goals can be achieved through innovative design practices and clever use of newer and cleaner energy technologies in MEP Design.
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity, and reducing carbon emissions is essential to limit the worst impacts. We believe engineers have a responsibility to lead the way in this effort and should work collaboratively with other stakeholders to achieve this goal. Reducing carbon emissions requires energy-efficient buildings and infrastructure, which can help reduce energy consumption, lower costs, and improve the resilience of our built environment. Many governments and municipalities are introducing regulations and incentives to minimize carbon emissions. Achieving net zero carbon in our projects can help ensure compliance with these regulations and avoid potential penalties.

Our firm believes that through cooperative action in our industry, together we can reduce GHG emissions and embodied carbon of MEP systems in buildings. Awareness, benchmarking, goal setting and measurement are the steps needed to make changes and move in the desired direction. We believe that this commitment will make our steps count as we work to make a positive impact in our industry and on the environment.
It is the right thing to do, for our communities, for our world. It is the MODUS Vision: To improve society through the design of safe, sustainable, and innovative buildings
"As engineers, we understand the need to exercise leadership in creating the built environment. We believe we must alter our profession’s practices and encourage our clients and the entire design and construction industry to join with us to change the course of the planet’s future. A multi-year effort will be required to alter current design and construction practices and realize significant reductions in the use of natural resources, non-renewable energy sources and waste production and promote regeneration of natural resources. M.E.P. Consulting Engineers, therefore, want to take on this commitment for the MEP 2040 Challenge."
P2S is committed to helping our client realize and achieve the benefits of building decarbonization. Building decarbonization serves as the fundamental basis of a climate neutral future if significant environmental and other risks are to be avoided.

Signing this commitment is a gesture that confirms where we have been as engineers for many years. We have long been electrification evangelists and regularly find ourselves on the front lines of the electrification conversations that turn the supertanker. The hardest part has been not losing heart in the face of apathy. We push hard for our projects to not use fossil fuels and have even recused ourselves from projects that refuse see past the status quo. The stunned expressions from our clients speaks to their surprise that we care about our values so much as to do that. We are working intentionally working at the place where engineering and architecture converge. It's not always a pleasant place to be but we are finding it to be the most effective leverage point. The architectural design process itself is a "technology" that can be optimized and outcome focussed. The process where the clients/owners/developers call the shots needs to end. They often have the least expertise and perspective. In the same way that we promote passive house quality enclosures without offering a choice, we specify heat pumps for space and water heating as standard and don't give fossil fuel options. We are also true believers in the power of education and advocacy. We know it works. Along that line we are eager to share an interview w/ anyone at MEP2040/CLF who was instrumental in putting this together. Honestly it's been on our minds here at Positive Energy to set something like this up - ever since hearing about SE2030 many years ago. That being said, education can only go so far. We are at a time where societal forces need to shift and we need to get beyond just talking about change. Knowing how to build sustainably is insufficient, we need to cause that to happen. Which is why the power of a commitment is an important and necessary step on the path forward. As mammals, we are far more relational than rational. What is important now is that the MEP "peer group" signals that its values and actions are changing.
REG s'est engagé à réduire les impacts de l'environnement bâti depuis la création de notre entreprise en 1997. Cet engagement est 100% en ligne avec nos objectifs et l'approche d'ingénierie que nous apportons à nos projets.

In our articles of association, we're committed to powering the makers of a zero-carbon future. This is an extension of our activity focused on MEP.
It is urgent that we rapidly decarbonize the built environment for both operational and embodied carbon. Having MEP engineers engage in the embodied carbon discussion is critical to the reduction of our buildings embodied carbon.
Its critical for a low-carbon future
The need for widespread, bold, and urgent action we must take as humans to prevent catastrophic climate change includes our personal decisions and professional duties. A thoughtful, integrated design process plays a key role in reducing and eliminating operational and embodied carbon.
SCET RYK is an important component of the network of technical colleges spread all over Pakistan. The academic and vocational courses and degrees are aimed at the sustainability, health and education of the masses of the poorest section of the society. We contribute towards the goals of MEO 2040 by updating the courses by research and practical experience of teaching and research in engineering and technology of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
"SERA recognizes that the climate crisis isn’t simply a challenge to our world’s ecological systems, it threatens humanity on a scale unprecedented in history. And it impacts our already vulnerable, underprivileged populations most. For many years, we’ve held sustainability as a basic tenet of our work – centering on holistic, integrated design processes. Our approach to sustainability is broad - including resource management, well-being, and over 30 other topic areas. Recently, we’ve intensified our focus on climate impacts. We’re analyzing, tracking, and working to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in the full portfolio of our projects, including embodied and operational carbon."
We are fully committed to reducing carbon in all of our projects, and fully support and encourage our MEP partners to do the same.
As a national Passive House organization and industry educator, we are not only deeply committed to radically reducing operational building emissions but also deeply support addressing embodied carbon so that buildings can maximize their climate mitigation impact.
The Plant is a prototype for the future of green building technology, centralizing the most state-of-the-art innovations in one place - a former coal burning power plant 30 min outside of NYC that was built to power Grand Central Station in 1907. The Plant will be Net Zero (embodied and operational) Carbon at occupancy.
Turner is fully committed to the decarbonization of the built environment. We actively pursue opportunities to engage, learn from, and support industry partners in areas which we do not necessarily have direct control. MEP system design is one of those areas. We recognize the importance that MEP system design plays in reducing the overall embodied and operational carbon in buildings and are excited that the MEP engineering community has initiated this Commitment.
Committing to help MEP Manufacturers understand their embodied carbon impacts.
We believe it will take a village to make the change necessary in the next few years, and we applaud, support and recognize the creativity and bravery of the MEP firms who ensure the designs we work on together are healthier, resilient and beautiful. We are excited to listen, learn from and assist in the effort to reduce operational and embodied carbon.
ZGF Architects is committed to carbon neutral architecture, including operational and embodied emissions. The MEP 2040 Commitment is aligned with these goals, and we encourage our engineering partners to join us in this important endeavor.
