• Local leadership. States and cities have been the leaders on embodied carbon since 2017 and  will continue to create demand for reductions and high-quality embodied carbon data. These resources are broadly useful across public (and private sector) projects. 
• Policy Implementation. As more policies come into effect, CLF has a growing focus on policy and ensuring policies translate into measurable emissions reductions.
• Collaboration. These training videos and model specifications are the result of joint efforts between CLF staff, UW Life Cycle Lab staff, and architects and engineers in the CLF network; These collaborations are vital to our work, and we are excited to continue building on these partnerships in 2025.

los Model Embodied Carbon Specifications incorporate project requirements for environmental product declarations (EPDs) and global warming potential (GWP) limits for construction products. These model specifications were developed for the Washington Department of Commerce to support compliance with the WA Buy Clean and Buy Fair (BCBF WA) legislation.  However, these specifications are useful for a broader range of projects/geographies and are offered here as a template to adapt to your needs.  

This introductory video series includes five modules on the following topics:

These pre-recorded video training modules were originally developed for an audience of government staff and managers in Washington State. However, the content is applicable to a much broader audience and is offered here as a resource to the entire CLF community.  The training videos are intended to be modular, allowing them to be presented in isolation or as an ongoing training series.
