CLF publishes the Buy Clean Washington Study

In March 2018, WA State commissioned the Carbon Leadership Forum to carry out a Buy Clean Washington Study to inform policy options and recommendations for state policymakers. A key goal and outcome of the study was to improve understanding of the background, technical issues, policy components and reduction strategies related to embodied carbon. The study included a review of current embodied carbon policies, a technical review of major structural materials, and a pilot phase to develop methods for testing proposed reporting requirements.
Study outputs included a five-part final report and supplemental resources (including a compilation of resources for policymakers). Development of the study spurred increased engagement and discussion among industry and government stakeholders around embodied carbon and related policy. Read the final report submitted to WA State in February 2019. Watch Kate Simonen brief WA representatives on study findings.
